Open your eyes - you can fly
My little robins have flown! None of them are in the nest anymore. Two of them now occupy branches of a shrub under my living room window. I haven't yet located the third. The big move happened yesterday, while I...

To Sir, with love
A rose is a rose, even when it's a McCartney rose. It was many years ago today (or some other day) that not-yet-Sir Paul McCartney pulled a perfect rose from a table centerpiece and tossed it into my hands as...

Have a beer with St. Brigid and God!
Oh boy, do I remember! It is not so long ago that the snow departed from around our cabin in Québec. Last weekend the last of the tulips put on their spring show, & vegetables are finally beginning to poke up through the soil in the garden. I have been enjoying this week's hot weather with tremendous enthusiasm. I realize that a hot week in NYC can be a little challenging, but the warm breezes are very much appreciated in this part of North America where summer is too, too short.

Ahhhhhhhh ... just looking at it makes me feel cool!

Brian, as long as I can remember, there has been one burning hot week here in the city every summer, the over-the-top sweltering molten-lava-pavement sort of thing. This year, we are already in our second spell, and we've not even had the summer solstice yet. The air quality is very bad today. A good day to stay home - which is what I am doing - with Mrs. Peel, and drink water, water, water.
Sandy, I hope you are staying cool, and I am glad you reacted as I did to that photo!
Blessings, Laurel

I have to echo Brian's sentiments. You've been in these parts, Laurel, (northern New Hampshire), and having lived for years in the Adirondacks I know you're no stranger to brutal winters, but--I too am actually enjoying the heat and humidity at the moment. After a long, cold season of seemingly endless high fuel oil/heating bills, any day I don't have to light the boiler in this steam-heated Victorian is a great day! Best blessings your way.
